*Frozen Forest Shawl* Brioche Knitting Patterns

Frozen Forest Shawl is a brioche knitting pattern worked in brioche rib stitch. With every row you knit, you can see appearing more and more "trees", so the "frozen forest" grows bigger and bigger. This pattern uses an I-cord bind off. In the video tutorial you can find instructions on how to knit the I-cord bind off or, if it seems to complicated, you can replace it with a more "usual" bind off for brioche knitting.

Knit The *Frozen Forest Shawl* Using The Chart:

With main color yarn cast-on 5 sts from 1 st (make a loop with the tail under the working yarn, then k1, yo, k1, yo, k1 into that loop). Pull on yarn tail and tighten that loop.

Work row 1 in main color yarn according to full chart or compact chart. After that slide all stitches to the other end of the needles, join contrast color yarn and work row 2 in contrast color yarn.

After each odd row slide stitches to other end of needles, pick-up contrast color yarn and knit with it the even row. After each even row turn work, pick-up main color yarn and knit with it the odd row.

Full Chart:

The full chart is for brioche beginners. As the titles announces, it indicates all the rows. When you get better acquainted with brioche maybe you will want to use the compact chart just below the full chart.

Compact Chart:

In the compact chart are indicated mostly the rows with increases and decreases. Between them are the rows similar to rows 2, 3, and 4, with the exception of the fact that you have to work the “brkyobrk” sts from previous row as: sl1yo, p1, sl1yo and the “br4st inc” stitches from previous row as: sl1yo, p1, sl1yo, p1, sl1yo.
