Abbreviations:

k - knit
p - purl
yo - yarn over
skp - slip, knit, pass
k2tog - knit 2 together

Directions:

Cast-on a multiple of 7 + 2 stitches for symmetry 
Row 1: *p2, k2, yo, k1, skp; rep from*, p2
Row 2: *k2, p5; rep from*, k2  
Row 3: *p2, k2tog, k1, yo, k2; rep from*, p2
Row 4: *k2, p5; rep from*, k2

Repeat rows 1-4 until you reach the desired length
