*Briolove Shawl* Brioche Knitting Patterns

Briolove Shawl is a brioche knitting pattern worked in brioche rib stitch. The pattern is composed of intertwined hearts and medallions panels like a love kaleidoscope. If you like motif of the shawl, but want to knit a scarf or a wrap, see Briolove Scarf.

I recommend to start knitting the shawl only after watching both Part 1 and Part 2 of the video tutorial.

Briolove Shawl - Brioche Knitting

Yarn:

The swatch that you saw in Part 1 of the video tutorial is Rockshelter Sock by Meadowcroft Dyeworks.
It's 100% Fingering Merino handpainted sock yarn.

Briolove Shawl - Brioche Knitting

Main color: 225 Dark Garnet
Contrast color: 044 Raku Glaze

On their site you can find many wonderful colorway pairings with brioche swatches for each of them, so it's very easy to have an idea of how your brioche knitwork would look like. Being a brioche knitting huge fan, I absolutely love the idea of brioche swatches with photos from both sides. Since brioche is a reversible stitch, you always want to make sure that the "wrong" side looks just right.

In Part 2 of the tutorial you can see the shawl I knit using:
Main color: Malabrigo Sock color Lotus - 1 skein
Contrast color: turquoise mohair yarn

Chart 1:

In short the directions are as follows:

1. Cast-on 13 sts from 1 stitch

2. Work Rows 1-44 (CHART 1)

3. Work Rows 13-44 (CHART 1)

4. Work Rows: 45-76 (CHART 2)

5. Repeat only Rows: 45-76 (CHART 2) until reached the desired shawl size.

After working row 76 bind off by following the below steps (you can watch how to bind off in this video):
Step 1: k1, p1, pass first stitch on the RH needle over the second stitch.
Step 2: brk1, pass first stitch on the RH needle over the second stitch.
Step 3: p1, pass first stitch on the RH needle over the second stitch.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 to finish the bind off. Cut the yarn by leaving a tail. Pull the yarn tail through the last stitch.Weave in loose ends. When blocking the shawl stretch it and pin it to obtain a beautiful edge.
